Fire in London!

This fantastic scene by James Pegrum is one of the best examples of late medieval town buildings I've ever seen!

And the fiery lighting effects are super cool too. :)

Brickfair Alabama 2013.

In October 2012, it was suggested by one of us in a comment thread that three pretty well known castle builders (Mark of Falworth, Legolord, and Tastymuffins.) could make a large collaborative LEGO castle display for a convention.

Since we are all located in the southeast we decided that Brickfair Alabama would be a great central destination.
So after chatting back and forth for a bit we pretty much knew what we wanted to create.

Tastymuffins built his section first,

Legolord had some unexpected things come up and unfortunately wasn't able to make it. (this year :) )

I had just finished "building like a madman" for my CCCX Master builder attempt.
So, I somewhat reluctantly dove into my LEGO bins to hurriedly build something to sit beside TM's castle

I nearly didn't get it built in time, and I would not have made it if my brother Steven hadn't helped me finish it up.
I'm pretty happy with the result, although, it would have looked better a few inches taller. ;)

So we packed it all up and drove to Birmingham!

I managed to snag a few photos of the connected collab.

There was so much to do at Brickfair!
I met so many super nice people

I spent large amounts of money on LEGO minifigures and accessories. ;)

And I can safely say we all had a blast!

I also made a video of some of the highlights of BFAL. be sure to check it out on Youtube
If you haven't been to a LEGO fan convention I would highly recommend you go to one!

Thanks for viewing and have a great day! :)

Huge Castle WIP

Flickr user Ryxe is working on a huge castle!

The awesomely unique style, brilliant color choice, and superb angles make this half completed work in progress extremely impressive!

I can hardly wait until it's done. :)

Ryxe says it's being built for the exhibition at the Lipno in the Czech Republic.

The final stretch of the CCCX!

Wow! It's been awhile since I last posted. I'll try to post more regularly. ;)

Well, we now have less then one week to go in the Colossal Castle Contest .
And I've seen some huge masterpieces show up in the castle category.

The first one, Rochester Castle made by David Frank (Fraslund on Flickr)
has some great textural detail, and being based on a real castle makes it that much cooler! :)

The next one, Aesidisi Castle, built by Tastymuffins.
Is probably the biggest castle entered so far. and the awesome angles and design make this another strong contender for the prize! :)

Last but not least is, Round Castle made by UKver2.0

It is rightly named "Round Castle" the Huge circular shape is as fantastic as it is unique. and the overall attention to detail is something you won't want to miss! :)

Check out all the great entries to the CCCX Here.

The Siege Of Châlus

This castle is just so awesome! I'm very partial to tan buildings and this one is no exception. I love how TheBrickAvenger places lever pieces about his scenes to make it look like arrows. Brilliant stuff.

Check it out on Flickr.

Castelo de Guimarães

This has got to be one of the best, (if not the best) Castles I have ever seen.
Made by a group in Portugal, this is castle building at it's best! :)

The castle itself is wonderful in it's detail and massive size, and the landscape is top notch as well.

Apparently 82.000 pieces went into this huge project.

Be sure to check it out on Flickr

A Day at the Mill

Flickr user Captain Flint has built a beautiful entry to the CCCX.

The bright, cheery, simplistic style of this MOC is refreshingly unique in a contest full of massive entries.
See it on Flickr.

Forestmen's River Fortress Redux

This lovely scene from 74loulete has the great feel of the original classic forester set it's based on.

I also like how the back opens up, a very cool feature! :)

Check it out on Flickr

Cwelderæde Castle

The CCCX is certainly bringing out the best for some of the top builders on the internet.

This splendid castle created by James Pegrum Has some impeccable detail,
I particularly like his brick walls. :)
Check it out on Flickr or Mocpages.

Eben Manor

This is one of those builds were I just want to stare for hours on end.
Fraslund has incorporated some fantastically intricate detail combined with an impressive scale make this one of the most beautiful castle builds I've seen in a very long time. :)

Be sure to check it out on Flickr.

Asca Duin

This huge build by ZCerberus is a fantastic example of SNOT rocks and superb trees and foliage.
Plus, the building is a work of art in itself.

Preparation.

Derfel Cadarn, (Luke Watkins) has created another awesome build!

The stonework is some of the best you'll see anywhere and everything else blends in so nicely.

Be sure to see it on Flickr.

Seashore Castle

Another Awesome castle blasts onto the scene!

This one, built by Shmails, has a lovely terraced style to it that not only looks fabulous, but it would also be immensely hard to assault.

See many more great views on Flickr

Modrijeka Castle

I wasn't the only one to get my castle out early this year for the CCC.  Eklund has built a beautiful castle with some superb angled walls, and I really like his crenelations.

And he even included our favorite Used Camel Salesman! :D

Be sure to check it out on Flickr!

The CCCX

Well, it's that time of year again. The Colossal Castle Contest is almost upon us.

For those who don't know, the CCC is a yearly contest hosted on Classic Castle.com

This event brought me into the world of the Online LEGO Community,
some of my first real MOCs can be seen among the other fabulous entries of last year's contest.

But this year has brought on many new builders to the CC forums, and many from last year (myself included) are eager to do better than before!
There are glory and LEGO prizes to be won!
What will you build in the CCCX? :)

I look forward to some fantastic building from some of the Internet's best!
Check out some of last year's entries and get inspired!

Loreesi Aqueduct

Flickr user Calculus3.14 has built a lovely little scene.

The aqueduct itself is very well done but it's the desert style rockwork that really caught my eye.

The Signing of the Magna Carta.

This beautiful scene built by James Pegrum, nicely displays the signing of the Magna Carta by King John.

The tree, water, and terrain work are all spectacular.
And such a cool historical scene is something not often made in LEGO.

Check it out on Flickr or Mocpages.

Forced Perspectives, Cool, Huh?

I saw this epic forced perspective MOC from (vhmh) on Flickr, and instantly thought it was blog-worthy!
I thought the angle and the concept of the balloons, the rope, the house, all inspired by the movie "UP", were totally neat.

Then, my brother told me about another forced persective build for the MocOlympics... once I saw this entry, I thought that this was also blog-worthy!
Forced perspectives are very difficult to create out of LEGO and I admire these guys for executing them so well.

Good luck to George G. in the MocOlympics!

Everard Lodge

Some of you may remember I joined the MocOlympics some time ago
And in the third round I'm facing Leda Kat, a very talented and experienced builder.

So I built a scene of a Medieval Hunting Lodge.

I'm very happy with the way this build came out! :)

The fall colored leave come from a company called Alt Bricks.
They are very high quality pieces and I would certainly recommend them.

A Tribute to the Fallen

In Lenfald (part of the Lands of Classic Castle,) there has been a civil war, and the usurper has finally been defeated.

Lenfel member Patrick Bouwes (Petturik NL on Flickr) Has built a tribute to the fallen warriors of Lenfald.

The scene is very well constructed, and the tree is a work of art, but the exquisite and unique base is what really made this build pop.
